Couch to 5k Journey

After a long break from working out (oops), I decided to do C25k. For those that don't know, this program is suppose to take you from sitting on your couch to being able to run a 5k in 9 weeks. I ordered the shoes, armband for my phone, apps for my phone to track my workouts, progress & music. I picked my shoes up today & decide I'm going to attempt to run Week 1 Day 1 of the program. So I load everything on my phone, talk on facebook, text, watch some tv, everything I could to get around having to run. In order to make myself run, I had to make myself accountable to somebody. I have never lied to my friend or broken a promise. So I promised him I would get out & run.

Finally...finallyyyyy I tell him brb. Now...let me point out that I'm battling a cold. I'm constantly coughing & I have no voice. I haven't ran since I was in the Navy & was out of shape towards the end of that anyways. So it's been about 10 yrs & about 70 lbs since I've ran. So I step outside & hit "start run" so it's a brisk walk to warm up for 5 minutes. Ok, I got this, I can do this. About halfway into this brisk walk my legs were already getting tired. WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO??? My phone says it's time to run... OMG OMG OMG...so off I go. While I'm running, I'm thinking, what have I gotten myself into, OMG I can't breathe, is it time to walk yet? I just want to go home!!! "Change your pace to a brisk walk" music to my ears!!!! I did this for a couple intervals...I did cheat a little, I stopped running about 45 seconds into my 60 sec run.

I ran around the corner at which my phone told me was .8 of a mile, but it wasn't long enough because when I made it in the house my phone was saying "you're halfway there" so either I'll have to do 2 laps or I need to choose a longer route. I was told to repeat day 1 & continue to repeat it until I can do the full day. SIGH, guess I'll run again Saturday W1D1x2 coming up lol.

Day 3

So I started my journey again Thursday. I'm doing classic, my friend is doing lean...we're going to compare our results throughout...So I'm really sore...
1st day was Chest & back and then Ab Ripper X...I made it 50 minutes into the 1 hr workout, I got lightheaded & stopped...later that night I returned to finish..with Ab Ripper, there are 11 exercises that you do 25 reps of, I only made it halfway through, and of course I couldn't do the 25 reps, but3-5 is a start, I plan to keep adding to it...I rested about 20 minutes, the soreness was starting to kick in, I was so sore it took me a couple minutes to get out my sports bra, and I was grimacing while doing it lol.

2nd Day was Plyometrics...I think I made it 20 minutes, including the warm up...oh plyo ain't no hoe...I woke up this morning and my legs weren't sore, I figured ok, must not have done enough...so I worked for 2 hrs...sitting there...went to get up and had to struggle...ohhhhhhhh there's the soreness...been struggling to walk, sit, stand up, get down on the floor for more exercises, all that lol.

3rd Day is Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X...I made it through the whole dvd, including some of the bonus, the last exercise I attempted my body cussed me out badly, so I only got to do 2 before I caught a HUGE cramp in that muscle we were working...with Ab Ripper, I made it through the whole 15 minutes, but again, I didn't do 25 reps, I did like 5-10 of each exercise with the exception of 2. So I think I'm getting a little improvement here.

Tomorrow is Yoga...lets see what's in store for me...I can say that although my arms are still sore from day 1 and I was dreading working my arms again, it actually felt good...stopped my body from hurting as long as I was exercising, moving the muscle...oh & the stretching felt soooooooo good!!!

Just wrong

So I stopped...why? Well #1 I found out I should be doing a different program, not the one I'm doing...#2 I need to get the diet on track...#3 I need resistance bands....I want to be able to hit the floor running, not waiting for things to be purchased etc...I don't want anything to stand in my way or to have an excuse to stop...so I'm getting my excuse out the way now.

In the beginning there was fat!!!

So I decided I would get in shape after seeing a picture of myself the other day & I really didn't like the way I looked. I've had P90x sitting here for weeks & haven't had the motivation to do it. I am sooooo out of shape. I started breathing hard with the warm up lol...Now the workouts are 1 hr, but I could only do 30 minutes + cool down because I had to work...but hey, it's a start right, I have to start somewhere...it may take me more than 90 days, but I'm working on it!!!! So I figure I'd create this blog to get me accountability. I'm suppose to work out every day so everyday I should be posting...right? lol....also I play the dancing games on the PS3 & Wii, so that should help too, after all it does get my heart rate up...Well against my better judgement, I will post ONE of the b4 pics, the better of the 2, yall don't need to see the side view, you will be even more disgusted than me lol.
This is me after 3 kids, 7 yrs of not taking care of myself, and 5 yrs of totally letting myself go...I don't remember my weight, I don't have a scale, I go to the dr Tuesday so I guess I'll post then, but I think I'm about 225...So my first goal is to hit 200...I have a cruise in December and I want to be in shape for it...we'll see what happens lol...I guess I'll post the pic from my phone, kinda blurry because my son took it...the next ones I'll set the self timer on the camera lol.
Tomorrow is cardio...today was core...
Next time I guess I'll tuck my pockets in lol
